Cursed Ones Session 3
Session Notes
Calendar Date: 18-3-569 - 19-3-569

- Some of the party awoke in the Gawping Cod tavern as they others returned from the sewers
- Not everyone fancied going to the council meeting, but Elfis, Robin, Danny and Ferdinand did
- Before going they stopped by the shops and bought a few items
- When they reached the tower where the illusionists commanded Whiterock from they were escorted to the council room by a guard
- Robin Houses managed to slip away to go and investigate the tower as Danny made a comment on one of the statues
- Robin quickly made his way up to the second floor while the others were interrogated about their intentions in Whiterock
- Robin was in a library but couldn't read. He then tried to go further up the stairs to find the orb of power but found himself in a store cupboard due to some illusionist trickery
- Hamish the illusionist mostly interrogate the others. Each said they were just passing through, or were a humble merchant or something similar. The illusionists couldn't argue with this but were not happy. They gave the party a long list of things to collect as a job to keep them busy
- One of the illusionists also noticed the bark growing on the arms of each of the party and recognised it as the Curse of Barkskin Binding. They said for fulfilling the task they could cure them
- Around this time Robin was spotted leaving the store cupboard by a guard and escorted to the council chamber
- He was ask the same questions as the other and gave equally vague responses
- They were also asked about their travelling companions who were still at the Gawping Cod
- After they had discussed this they asked for a tour of the tower to see if there was any "information" that they could gain about the items they needed to collect
- Vastrasa another illusionist from the council offered to help with this and escorted them up the tower
- On the way up Elfis used their charm spell and convinced Vastrasa to help them
- Vastrasa showed them how to bypass the security in the tower and take the orb as well as some treasures which lifted a magical veil from Whiterock
- The party rushed away with Vastrasa in tow, they met the illusionists on the way out who had come rushing and looked worried
- Vastrasa said there had been no problem allowing the party to escape
- They spent some of their gold on potions, ignid tooth daggers and a few other items before meeting Vastrasa back in the pub
- They asked Vastrasa how to lift The Curse of Barkskin binding and she explained that they needed the nut of a sentient tree, 3 cat hairs and the breath of a mermaid. Then Vastrasa could brew a cure
- They then went to hand the orb over to the thieves guild
- In the Silverfish they smashed the orb and appeased the guild
- They then decided it would be smart to get out of town for a while
- First they went to the hut where the sailors were staying and told them they could go home and then they headed into the Howling Woods to find the nut of a sentient tree
- Although no one had come across a sentient tree before they all had a very strong inclination of the direction they would have to go to find one
- They followed this and along the way came across some goblins tormenting some Stick Children. Elfis spoke to them and, happy to hear someone who could speak goblin, they explained where they had seen a possible sentient tree
- The party followed the directions crossing a rapid stream which had a broken bridge across it and a troll sleeping nearby
- To cross Ferdinand vaulted the river and attached a rope to a tree. The others used this to pull themselves through the water. Danny let go of the rope, but was pulled back in by the others easily
- They next came across an overgrown ruined tower. They cut back the undergrowth and camped there for the night
- It didn't take much travelling before they reached the tree. It was sleeping and many giant nuts were strewn across the clearing around this huge tree
- Each part member took one and the tree was not disturbed
- They decided to wake and talk to the tree. He was friendly and lonely. He had been asleep for many years and didn't get many visitors. He also didn't know too much being stuck in one place
- The part took their leave
- When they reached the tower there were three gullygugs (frog men) inside investigating
- The party decided to lure out and attack them. All of their initial attacks missed and one spun around, stabbing, and killing Robin Houses
- The party retaliated and slowly took out the gullygugs, but were upset at the loss of Robin. They took his possessions to pass onto his son
- On the way back Elfis fell into the rive and was continually buffeted against a rock almost killing them. Danny and Ferdinand were just about able to pull Elfis out before they drowned
- The party past the goblins again on the way back and helped them with the stick children tormenting before continuing on their way
- The rest of the journey back to Whiterock was mostly uneventful and when they returned they stopped by the Gawping Cod to rest again after their dangerous time in the woods
- Robin Bungalows, Robin Houses son, was staying with the other party members and was given his inheritance
