A shortsword made of a wicked black metal. On the hilt is carved a rune which reads "Darkfire" in a language that most cannot read. If you do not know the name Darkfire will do nothing. If someone holds the weapon and chants the name, it switches between two modes each time the name is spoken:

Attack mode: Flaming sword, +2 to hit + 2 damage
Defence mode: A thin orange field surrounds the user giving +2 AC
