The Gate of the Feral Gods Review

This was a good book but I had a similar feeling to Carl's Doomsday Scenario when I was reading this. It felt like it was missing something that I had loved from some of the other books in the series. Even though Mordecai was back they were still having to piece things together and they had some fun exploits of the rules and mechanics. This was all great, I felt like in this book there was often not enough information to work the plans for yourself. Instead you would get it all coming together afterwards and an explanation of what happened a lot more. In some places this was fun and engaging and kept you wondering what would happen, but in other it felt like it would have been more fun to be in on the plans. In previous books I think we got walked through them as they formulated a lot more. Also the growing number of abilities and items at Carl, Donut and Katia's disposal makes them harder to keep track of and work out what could happen.
My issue is very nitpicky and I still really enjoyed the book. If you have got this far into my Dungeon Crawler Carl reviews you probably already know I love the series so I just wanted to highlight my one real issue. Other than this, I think the concept with the different regions of the bubble being locked off and the characters between the regions having to work together is great. The Gate of the Feral gods and how Carl is able to come up with crazy ways to use it and other god summoning devices is really fun. And the book starts to show more of what is happening outside of the game in the universe with Carl even starting to do some interaction with the outside world. All in all a great book.
