The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook Review

While reading this book I think I worked out what felt like it was missing of me in Carl's Doomsday Scenario. It felt like they had to work out things a lot more in this book. Even before Mordecai disappears for a while it felt like there were a lot more unknowns in the Iron Tangle. The third floor in comparison felt like Carl and his companions were told how to solve each problem as they came across it mostly by Mordecai. In this book Mordecai does not know everything and for a while he isn't around to tell Carl the solution to every problem. As a result, I enjoyed this book much more than the second book.

Other than this, The Dungeon Anarchist's Cookbook continues to ramp things up. The plans get crazier, the stakes feel higher and there are some cool team up moments that feel earned by the series. All the good bits of the previous books are still here. We see some great character moments and Katia feels like a full character is this book, the plans are fun, and the mystery of the tangle is presented well. If you liked the first two books you will like this one and if you felt Carl's Doomsday Scenario was a bit of a dip after Dungeon Crawler Carl then you might like this one more. I'm smashing through these and I'm moving straight onto The Gate of the Feral Gods now.
