Alien Earth Season 1 Review

I really liked how Alien Earth managed to shake up the Alien formula. It gives us classic Alien moments where people are being hunted down by the xenomorphs, and also introduces some new aliens which have unique ways of causing chaos themselves. Then there is the various different forms of 'enhanced' humans, the synths, cyborgs and hybrids, as well as the 5 corporations that are running the world. It sounds like it is going to be a lot to keep track of but the series is really well paced and keeps you engaged by posing new questions and ideas as the series progresses.

This is all mostly happening on earth too. I won't spoil too much but I think it is fair to say the pitch for this series is what if the xenomorphs got to earth. This different setting, where we don't have an enclosed or isolated space with few people for the Aliens to interact with makes for many more possibilities. The first season delves into some of these while holding onto others for later, but I think as a whole it stands alone and is a good watch. If the quality continues I think this will be an excellent series.
